Neo-classical buildings surround the courtyard, which has been used for everything from film premieres to London Fashion Week. It is home to 55 fountains during the summer months, putting on a dazzling display for visitors.

Somerset House Ice Rink

During the winter months, the courtyard at Somerset House is taken over by a winter festival with the famous ice rink at its centre. The traditional 40ft Christmas tree welcomes guests as they can choose from an array of activities, from ice skating lessons on the rink to music and DJs, or a bite to eat in the alpine themed restaurants.

The ice rink is usually open between November and January each year.

By Bus
If you’d prefer to travel by bus, cross the road to Trafalgar Square and head to Stop F. Take the number 15 bus towards Blackwall, alighting at Stop D (Aldwych). Upon leaving the station, turn right down Strand until you can see Somerset House.

By Tube
Somerset House's nearest tube station is Temple Underground Station. Upon leaving the hotel turn right and follow Villiers Street to Embankment. From Embankment station take the District Line, alighting at Temple. Upon leaving Temple turn left onto Victoria Embankment and walk until you see Somerset House.
